Coorg to Ooty By road - Bandipur Tiger reserve & National Park - Mudumalai Elephant home visited onway

 Om Sai Raam,

My Today's blog is on our traveling from Coorg to Ooty by road. Onway we had visited Bandipur Tiger reserve & National Park - Mudumalai Elephant home visited on way.

We wanted to reach OOTY same evening so we had only Bus safari @ Bandipur & Enjoyed Elephant feeding @ Mudumalai Elephant home

Otherwise, if you are a forest lover, Wildlife lover & trekking crazy then you should take 2 days minimum stay @ Bandipur. Facilities are available to stay there to enjoy the Jungle.

So, Let's start with our Journey from Coorg to 1st Hault Bandipur National Park

We started from our Coorg Holiday Home - Coorg Cliff Resort about 9 AM after delicious breakfast. Enjoyed our drive on Mangalore-Mysore Highway. The distance of Ooty from Coorg is approx 246 Kms so driving time is 5 hours & 30 mins approx.

We had delicious South Indian Lunch on way to Ooty on Highway Dhaba. And then our 1st Hault was Bandipur National Park.

The park is one of the richest wildlife areas in India, is particularly noted for its intact assemblage of seven large angulate species (muntjac, chital, sambar, chousingha, gaur, wildpig and elephant) and three large predatory carnivores – tiger, leopard and dholes.

Monsoon is a good time to see those elephants and winter is good for travel and sightseeing. The weather in Bandipur National Park welcomes you most of the year.

We wanted to Reach Ooty by the same evening so we opted only for Evening Safari to explore the national park.

Advance booking of Bandipur Jeep safari can be done on the Bandipur Tiger Reserve website. Or you can go directly to the safari office and buy the tickets. Tickets are offered on a first come first serve basis.

Charges of Bandipur National Park Safari.

  • 300 per person for Indians (entry and safari charges)

  • 1,100 per person for foreign tourists (entry and safari charges)

  • 200 per camcorder.

Timings:

The bus safari is available between 6:30 am and 9:00 am and between 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm. (1 Hour Bus ride)

Elephant safari will be available between 10 am and 11 am.

Jeep safari is available from 6:00 am to 9:00am and from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

You can stay overnight also. Many options are available. Nice resorts nearby. You can search on our own GOOGLE.

After the safari, we started our journey towards Ooty with another interesting halt at Mudumalai Elephant's home.

Distance: 75 Kms

We reached there by Elephant Feeding time. So enjoyed it & started our Journey to Ooty. By evening we wanted to reach our Ooty Holiday home.

After Enjoying Elephant Feeding we started for Ooty. We had to cross 36 Hairpin Bends to reach Ooty from Mudumalai.

And Mudumalai to Ooty was 4 hours driving distance with those very tough Hairpin Bebds, That too at evening. We reached our Ooty Hotel by 8:30 PM.

So here I have tried to give important points for travellers of Coorg to Ooty by road via Bandipur National Park & Mudumalai.

See you in my next blog I will take you to Ooty from my words & my Camera.

Till then byeeeeeeee. Thanks for your time.
